Helping Poles in Ukraine


Since March 2022, our organization has been providing humanitarian aid to our fellow countrymen living in Ukraine. We have been working in partnership with The Foundation Aid to Poles in the East, visiting numerous cities and villages where Poles reside. Our vehicles traveled almost 160,000 kilometers. The assistance we provided was received with deep appreciation.

It is worth noting that in 1939, the Soviet Union took control of the historic Polish territories. For centuries, these lands had
been connected with the Kingdom of Poland, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Second Polish Republic. The Ukrainian Soviet Republic was given control of the southern slice of Polesie, the Volhynia, Stanislawow, and Ternopil provinces in their entirety, as well as most of the Lviv province up to the San River. This amounted to a total of 89,397 square kilometers with a population of about 8,000,000. Consequently, the lands on which we built our history were taken away from us. Today,
these lands are currently under the jurisdiction of Ukraine. However, there are still Polish individuals residing in the area who are dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage and burial sites of our forefathers, including those who were tragically killed by nationalist UPA and UON groups. The complex history between Poles and Ukrainians is an issue that we hope will be resolved in the near future. In the meantime, there is an ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and it is important that we provide as much assistance as possible. Although this can be challenging at times...
